Best place to live in North Carolina?

Best place to live and work in North Carolina?

We are U.S citizen living overseas thinking about moving back to the U.S. North Carolina is my husbands 1st choice. What are the best places to live? The best neighborhoods (reasonable prices)? Best schools? I have two children 7 and 9. My husband wants to buy a turn key business such as a gas station, convience store or a franchaise such as a UPS store How is business there? Any drawbacks about moving there?

Best place to live in North Carolina?

Best places to live %26amp; work are subject to YOUR wishes and motivation for relocating, (i.e. quality of life -vs- business profitability). Obviously you want a happy medium, so location really depends upon which area of the state you feel would make your family happiest, the setting (urban or rural), and the balance you wish to strike between income level and quality of life.

If you enjoy outdoor recreation - hiking, biking, whitewater sports, or simply visiting waterfalls, national parks %26amp; forests - look to the mountains of western NC. If beaches are your thing, obviously look to the coastal communities in the Eastern part of the state. A useful resource for you may be the list of statewide NC Chambers of Commerce located at:

You may or may not want to live in a large city proper, but you will eventually have to visit one nearby, as smaller towns in rural areas don't have all of the amenities you'll find yourself needing. Suggest you first decide which part of the state your Family would prefer to live in and you can then research property prices, schools, business opportunities, etc... on a market-specific level. I live in a small town in the mountain region (Franklin, NC) and can honestly say that, having lived in FL, CA, GA, and in the Raleigh area (Cary), I have truly found my Happiness here amongst these beautiful mountains and genuinely friendly people. I now can't imagine ever living anywhere else permanently...

Tips for buyers can be found on the source website listed below, as can my credentials if any further questions. In closing, please allow me the opportunity to wish you the best of luck with your relocation efforts, and all the happiness in the New Year!
