if you have rainbow 6 vegas on an xbox and rainbow 6 vegas on pc can both machines meet on xbox live game room or is the pc online seperate from xbox live?

Both are separate. There has yet to be a game that has the cross platform online gaming. One of the upcoming games that will be doing that is Shadowrun with the introduction of the Games for Windows Live Gold/ Live Anywhere.
