I live in California, and I'm interested in various cultures - one of them being the Amish. How would I go about visiting/living among them for a week or two?

I lived with a Mennonite Family in Peach Bottom Pa. near Lancaster,, for nearly two months,,bringing me in close contact with the Amish community,,,,They need fresh blood..literally..and would probably welcome the help on a farm of a strong young,, Yangees,,,,Be ready for culture shock supreme,,,,,

Sort of like observing the monkeys right? Forget it, none of them would allow themselves to be seen as part of your study.

No thanks- I grew up poor without electricity most of the time, no ac,and no hot water it was a good enough experience for me.

I enjoy all my luxuries and very thankful for them all.

Now for a good purpose like helping children in other countries I would do that.

They are probably healthy because of growing thier food.

You can visit the areas where they live, but living among them is not generally permitted. Best to get some books and read up on the culture.
