Live in Tx but seriously thinking of movin to NY 4 a change of pace,can ne1 help where 2 live safely

anywhere that i can live that is not as expensive like Manhattan or dangerous as the Bronx? Im very impulsive person and usually thats how i handled my life so far but now i want to try the big apple to see if my dream can be met. Can someone please help, just to start me off. this is a big step in my part just asking cause if not i would be over there, but i want to do it in an intelligent manner.

I can tell you this NY will be a major culture shock to you. I grew up in Louisiana and then moved to New York. Southern people are a lot different than Northern people. That being said. New York is expensive. Doesn't matter where you choose to live. I have lived in Brooklyn, out on Long Island and in Manhattan. My apartment in Brooklyn for a studio was $700.00 per month without the parking spot, Long Island for a 1 bedroom apartment was over $900.00 per month NYC was over 1200.00 per month for a shoebox studio. Mind you this was over 13 years ago so I can only guess what the rents are now. My Mother-n-law lives in Freeport, NY that is out on Long Island. She says the utilities are sky high. Electric alone is running her over $150 a month she lives by her self in a 2 bedroom townhouse. If you have gas forget about it. Gas bills are over $200 per month. Being impulsive and chasing your dream is one thing, Being stupid and unprepared is something else. I don't know what your dream is or what kind of work that you do. But in order to make your dream a reality you have to be realistic. You have to curb your impulses and buckle down and get to work. Running off to New York with no job prospects or living arrangements will only make your dream turn into a nightmare. Go online and look up the New York Post. Check the classified ads and you will see for yourself how expensive it is to live in New York

No where in N.y is cheap"" it is safer than before like ten yr's ago, but cheap " not in N.Y. unless at a shelter.
