Live rock dead?

How do you know that your live rock is dead or is dying? The reason why I am asking is because I put a ick killer in one of my tanks, and some of the live rock turned into a bright yellow or blue color. What and why is this color here? Is it bad? Can it harm my fish?

Live rock dead?

If the ich medication contained copper, your fish will be OK. but you've probably killed a bunch of other stuff. NEVER put copper in a reef system. Get a good book and study it,before you do more harm.

Live rock dead?

no

Live rock dead?

I can only suggest to possible locate an active saltwater forum. They will have a very good answer, as not many people here may know what dead live rock may look like. In addition, you can get a lot of good information from an active forum, more than yahoo answers will ever be able to provide.

Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Live rock dead?

the coloring in the Ich treatment will not harm your fish or rocks(live or otherwise) Im not sure WHY it colors everything but it ways on the bottle that this will happen %26amp; it may stain silicon tubes etc %26amp; the water but will fade in a few days....my tubes are still blue from when I had to terat my tank but nothing else...your live rocks should be fine

Live rock dead?

Live rock is "live" because it is full of beneficial bacteria, and perhaps other organisms like algae, sponges, and corals among other things. What kind of medicine did you use? Some do stain aquarium decor. It may also have harmed the beneficial bacteria on the rock, so it's possible that the rock is no longer "live", but the color is not a good indication of that. As stated above, always medicate fish in a separate quarantine tank. In the mean time, I would run some carbon in your filter to remove the medication.
